Awfully Pretty

[No, this entry's not going to be about my grades or rants about my classmates so don't worry.]

This week was pretty relaxing because we didn’t do a lot of things. We didn’t even have much homework. Some teachers also didn’t come. I didn’t know why, but it was more fun that way. I got to escape from all the stress, even for just a while. Everything was fun without teachers. Everything was fun without things to do. Everything was fun even if I didn’t really learn anything new.

But I just realized that it was so wrong to feel that way.

My Economics teacher did not go to school the whole week. I figured that maybe her house or the street was just flooded and it was hard to pass through. I really thought that it was the only problem. However, my former classmate sent me a message from the teacher and I couldn’t imagine that her situation was worse than I thought. She didn’t go to school just because it was flooded outside. They were going through a lot. My former classmate’s mom said that she and her family doesn’t have shelter anymore. The flood in their house still remains chest-deep. They tried to get in the house by renting a tow truck. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to go; the truck couldn’t get near because of the high water level. Now she’s asking for help in finding a new home.

I was so darn wrong for celebrating. I want to help her. I just don’t know how.

Yes, I heard in the news about the flood in Philipines. It’s so saddening. I want to help too but I don’t know how…

Don’t feel so bad, it wasn’t your fault for celebrating. It’s just any typical natural reaction. Sorry about your teacher’s situation :( Can’t believe that they’re still homeless until now. Shucks.

Oh, I guess that was the aftermath of Ondoy? :( My school was having donations last week or maybe it was the week before last week. Remembering it makes me really sad. It’s a quite a relief your house didn’t end up like theirs.

That isn’t totally true. You did learn a lesson. :)
