Maybe he is just as keen on the idea as you, which is not keen at all. Maybe talk to him and see if he can talk to his mam about calling it off. Or maybe ask him to fake an illness on the day lol.

Isn't that just like Moms. Really though, its YOUR prom, and you shouldn't have to bring a date if you don't want to. Your parents can't force you two to go to prom together, and I think you just need to voice how awkward his behavior was so your Mom understands you would be better off not having him around. Ahh people change :] so maybe he's a snob on the outside, but a nice person on the inside? Maybe he seemed like a snob to you when he was shy?
